OCTOBER 2023

1 Oct – the male remains on the ledge until 7:15 when he takes a short flight. He flies off again at 8:20. He is back at 9:35 but soon leaves. The pair fly in at 10:55 calling loudly and go into the box. The male moves to the ledge after a brief bout of bonding and flies out at 11:00. She leaves five minutes later after tidying the scrape. The male is back at 18:00 and remains on the ledge until midnight.

2 Oct – the male remains on the ledge until 6:50 when he flies off. He is back at 17:25 and is quickly joined by the female. They go into the box for a short bonding session, then he returns to the ledge. He soon flies off and she leaves at 17:40. Neither return before midnight.

3 Oct – the male arrives at 1:30 and sits on the ledge until flying off at 6:35. Unfortunately, the cameras fail at 10:00.

4 Oct – 6 Oct – unfortunately, the cameras are offline.

7 Oct – we manage to get the cameras up and running at 13:30. The male flies in at 14:05 and leaves at 16:25. He is back at 17:40 for 20 minutes and returns at 18:45 remaining until midnight at least.

8 Oct – the male watches the midnight skies and flies off at 00:10. The female flies in carrying very fresh Feral Pigeon prey at 8:50. The male arrives ten minutes later and watches from the ledge. He quickly flies off whilst she feeds. She leaves with her meal at 9:50 and the male lands and checks for the remains but there are none so he flies off. He is back with a very full crop at 15:50 and sits on the ledge. He falls asleep and remains until at least midnight.

9 Oct – the male flies out at 00:35. The female flies in at 4:35 looking well fed and carrying Feral Pigeon prey. She stashes it by a column and sits on the ledge until flying off at 6:50. The male arrives at 7:20 , sees the stashed pigeon, picks it up and flies off. The pair fly in at 12:10 and spend a few minutes in the box bonding. The male then flies out quickly followed by the female caring a small remnant of prey. The male is back at 18:50 and remains on the ledge until midnight.

10 Oct – the male remains on the ledge until flying off at 1:40. The female flies in at 2:30 and searches the platform for food, then sits on the ledge until flying off at 6:55. The pair are back in the box bonding for ten minutes at 12:35. The male moves to the ledge then flies off at 12:55 and the female quickly follows. The male is back in the box at 13:35, spending 20 minutes in the scrape before moving to the ledge at 13:55. Both birds have been spending lots of time tending to the scrape. He is back in the box at 15:20 for ten minutes and flies off five minutes later. He returns at 20:10 and remains until midnight at least.

11 Oct – the male sits on the ledge and is joined by the female at 2:10 and he leaves soon after. She flies off at 7:10. The male lands for ten minutes at 14:25 and the female replaces him for five minutes. The pair return at 18:20. The female goes into the box whilst the male sits on the ledge. He joins her 20 minutes later for a bonding session and the pair are on the ledge a few minutes later. They both remain until at least midnight.

12 Oct – the pair remain on the ledge until 00:25 when the male flies off. The female stays until 6:50. The pair return at 17:15 looking well fed and spend a few minutes in the box. The male then moves to the ledge whilst the female remains in the box tending the scrape. She flies out at 18:05 but he is on the ledge until midnight. 

13 Oct – the male remains on the ledge until flying off ay 7:15. He returns at 7:40 for five minutes. He is back looking well fed at 14:35 remaining until 15:40. Then female arrives at 18:35 but only stays a few minutes and is replaced by the male. He flies off at 22:00. 

14 Oct – the pair fly in at 6:50 but the female quickly leaves and the male follows ten minutes later. The female is back at 9:55 and goes into the box remaining until 11:55 when she flies out and returns immediately with the male but they quickly fly off together. The male is back briefly at 13:30. He flies into the box at 13:55 and leaves at 14:15. He is back on the ledge at 17:15 until 17:40. The male returns at 21:15 and sits on the ledge but leaves 15 minutes later. The female lands at 21:35. She leaves at 22:10 returning at 22:30 carrying a white Feral Pigeon. She stashes it by a column then sits on the ledge. 

15 Oct – the female remains on the ledge until 7:00 when she walks onto the platform and feeds on the stashed pigeon. After ten minutes, she flies off with her meal. The male flies in at 17:55 looking well fed and sits on the ledge until at least midnight. 

16 Oct – the male flies off at 6:55. He is back again briefly at 10:20 and the pair fly in 20 minutes later. The male soon leaves but the female remains until 11:15 preening and tending to the scrape. There is no other activity on camera today.

17 Oct – the pair fly in at 7:15, the male goes into the box whilst the female is on the platform. She quickly joins him, but he soon leaves. She flies off five minutes later. The male is back at 10:30 and goes into the box for ten minutes, then preens on the ledge until flying off at 11:35. He is back briefly at 12:45, calling loudly. He returns to the ledge at 17:00 for five minutes. There is no further activity today.

18 Oct – the male flies in at 5:30. He goes into the box when the female arrives at 7:10, then quickly leaves. The female flies out five minutes later. She is back at 10:35 and goes into the box briefly before flying out. There is no further activity on camera today.

19 Oct – the male lands briefly at 7:35. The pair fly into the box at 15:10, but the male leaves quickly whilst the female tends to the scrape for ten minutes, then flies out. He is back again at 17:15 and goes into the box for a few minutes before sitting on the ledge and leaving 15 minutes later.

20 Oct – there was no activity on camera until 17:45 when the rather wet and bedraggled pair (due to Storm Bebet) fly into the box. The male leaves quickly and the female a few moments later. This was the only action today.

21 Oct – the male arrives at 6:05 and sits on the ledge preening until 7:25; now that the rain has finished falling. There is no more activity until he returns to the ledge at 18:00 where he remains until flying off at 22:10.

22 Oct – the male flies in at 2:45 with a full crop, flying off at 7:00. The pair arrive at 9:35 and go into the box. The male leaves soon after, with the female flying off five minutes later. She returns quickly but stays for just ten minutes. The pair are back in the box at 10:45 for ten minutes. The male is back at 13:35 and sits on the ledge for ten minutes. He returns at 17:00 with another full crop, then flies off ten minutes later, as the female flies in carrying very fresh Feral Pigeon prey. She flies out with it just a few minutes later. The male is back at 18:25 remaining on the ledge until midnight at least.

23 Oct – the male remains on the ledge from the previous evening until 00:40. The pair fly in briefly at 7:35. The male is back at 14:00 for 20 minutes. He returns at 18:15 for two hours.

24 Oct – the pair arrive together at 14:45 and go into the box.  The male leaves after a few minutes but the female remains in the box for a further ten minutes before flying out. The male is back at 18:20 with a full crop and sits on the ledge until midnight.

25 Oct – the male remains on the ledge until flying off at 6:25. There is no further activity on camera today.

26 Oct – there was no activity until the male lands at 10:35. He remains on the ledge for ten minutes. The pair are back at 16:30 for a few moments bonding. The male leaves quickly and the female after spending ten minutes in the box. There is no further activity today.

27 Oct – the pair fly into the box at 8:30. The male leaves quickly and the female a few minutes later. They make another short visit at 16:20 with the female remaining for ten minutes.

28 Oct – the pair arrive at 10:40 and go into the box. The male leaves quickly and the female five minutes later. He is back at 15:10 and sits on the ledge for ten minutes, the returns at 17:45 for five minutes.

29 Oct – the female lands on the ledge at 1:45. She flies off at 6:10. The pair fly into the box at 16:50 but the male quickly moves to the ledge. She forces him off at 16:55 and takes his place. She flies out at 17:20 and he returns. The female is back at 18:50 carrying Woodcock prey which she stashes by a column, then she sits on the ledge before flying off ten minutes later. The male flies off at 19:35.

30 Oct – the female flies in at 6:25, picks up the stashed Woodcock and feeds for 15 minutes, then flies out with it. The male lands briefly calling at 8:55 and is back at 17:05 for 20 minutes.

31 Oct – the male arrives looking well fed, with half-eaten pigeon. He stashes it by a column and sits on the ledge. He starts to feed on it again at 14:35 and is bomb-dived by a Magpie and so flies out with it. The Magpie lands and picks at scraps but leaves quickly. The pair fly into the box at 16:10 but the male leaves quickly and the female five minutes later.
