JANUARY 2024

1 Jan – the male lands at 7:50 for five minutes. He does not return until 16:20 and remains until at least midnight.

2 Jan – the male remains on the ledge from the previous evening until flying off at 8:00. There is no further activity on camera on a very wet and windy day.

3 Jan – there was no activity on camera today.

4 Jan – the male arrives at 6:25 and flies off at 7:10. The pair fly in an hour later but he quickly leaves, and she soon follows. The female is back at 19:25 looking well fed and carrying the remains of a meal. She stashes her meal and flies off after ten minutes.

5 Jan – the male flies in briefly at 7:30. The female lands at 8:05 and goes into the box before moving to the ledge and flying off five minutes later. The male is back at 8:15 for ten minutes. There is no further activity today.

6 Jan – the male lands at 1:00 remaining until 7:20. He is back at 19:15 until 20:00.

7 Jan – the male arrives at 9:05 for five minutes. He is back at 18:05 and remains on the ledge until at least midnight.

8 Jan – the male remains on the ledge until 00:35. He is back at 7:20 for 25 minutes. The pair fly in at 15:05 but neither remain more than a few minutes. There is no further activity today.

9 Jan – the male flies in at 7:25, leaving ten minutes later. He bounces on and off the platform at 15:00. There is no further activity on camera today.

10 Jan – the female lands at 1:45 carrying the remains of a recent meal. She stashes it by the column and sits on the ledge with a full crop, leaving at 7:30. She is back at 15:00 to pick up her stashed meal and flies off with it.

11 Jan – the male lands at 6:50. He flies off at 7:55 and returns a few minutes later with the female. They go into the box, but he leaves quickly and she soon follows. There is no further activity thereafter.

12 Jan – the pair fly in at 7:55 and spend a few moments bonding. The male soon leaves and the female five minutes later. There is no further activity thereafter.

13 Jan – the male arrives at 6:55 until 7:50. He is back at 9:45 with the female and they go into the box. He leaves quickly and she follows ten minutes later. He returns at 13:25 and is joined by the female. He flies off after a short bout of bonding and she soon follows. The male is back at 23:15 and sits on the ledge until midnight.

13 January 2024 – Video: the pair have a short session calling to one another.

14 Jan – the male remains on the ledge until flying off at 6:55. He is back at 8:30 for 15 minutes. He flies in with the well-fed female at 10:25. She goes into the box, and he sits on the ledge for a few minutes before flying off. She finally leaves at 12:15 and he returns briefly 30 minutes later. The male is back on the ledge at 17:15 for ten minutes. He returns at 18:45 and is continually watching the skies until leaving at 19:40.

15 Jan – the male flies in at 6:10 until 7:40. The female arrives at 10:05 and goes into the box tending the scrapes, before flying out 30 minutes later. She is back at 18:50 looking well fed and carrying the remains of her fresh Teal meal. She stashes it by a column and flies off.

16 Jan – the male lands at 6:35. He takes hold of the stashed meal at 7:25 and flies out with it ten minutes later. He returns with the female at 7:55 and they go into the box. He leaves quickly and she follows at 8:10. The pair return at 12:25 but he quickly leaves, and she soon follows. The male returns at 16:35 and flies out at 19:55. He is back a few minutes later but is off again at 20:20. The female is back at 21:20 carrying the remains of the Teal meal. She stashes it by a column and flies out after ten minutes.

17 Jan – the male flies in at 4:45 and feeds on the stashed Teal, then falls asleep on the ledge until 7:50. He is back at 8:35 and feeds on the scraps on the platform before flying off ten minutes later. The pair arrive at 10:35 but the female leaves immediately after picking up some scraps and is followed by the male. The male is back briefly at 13:35. There was no further activity thereafter.

18 Jan – the male arrives at 7:15 for ten minutes and for a few moments at 8:30. The female flies in at 9:10 and goes into the box to tend the scrapes for ten minutes. The male is back at 11:55 followed quickly by the female. He leaves soon after whilst the female remains until 12:30 looking after the scrapes. The male lands three times in quick succession at 16:20, as if there is an intruder. There was no activity thereafter.

19 Jan – the male flies in at 4:05 and falls asleep on the ledge until leaving at 7:10. He returns with the female 40 minutes later but leaves quickly and she follows. He bounces off the platform calling loudly at 13:40. He returns at 16:55 and remains on the ledge until at least midnight.

20 Jan – the male remains on the ledge until 7:35. He returns with the female 15 minutes later. He quickly leaves but she sits in the box until 8:00, flies out but soon returns. She watches the skies for ten minutes then flies off. The pair fly into the box at 10:15 but he soon leaves. She follows five minutes later. He is back briefly calling loudly at 11:05. He returns at 16:55 and takes at short hunting flight at 22:10, then and sits on the ledge sleeping, until midnight at least.

21 Jan – the male remains on the ledge until 7:45 when he goes into the box on the arrival of the female. He quickly leaves and she follows a few minutes later. He returns briefly at 10:45 and again briefly at 12:55, calling loudly. The female lands for a few moments at 14:20 with a full crop and the male bounces off the platform five minutes later – there does appear to be intruder activity in the area. The female is back at 15:15 with a number of displaced feathers; she flies off quickly. The male lands at 16:05 carrying an item of pre-plucked prey. He sits with it in his talons for 15 minutes but then feeds on it despite already looking well fed – was this meal due to be a gift for the female? He remains on the ledge until midnight at least.

22 Jan – the male remains on the ledge from the previous evening and is joined by the female at 7:05. She flies out almost immediately and returns at 8:00 when the pair go into the box. The male leaves quickly and the female at 8:15. He returns at 9:25 and almost misses his footing in the strong winds, then quickly leaves. He is back again for a few minutes at 12:55. He returns at 16:15 carrying a small remnant of a previous meal which he eats on the ledge and flies off ten minutes later. He flies in at 16:50 for 20 minutes and briefly at 17:35. He is back with a full crop at 22:00 remaining until midnight at least.

23 Jan – the male flies off at 7:30. The pair fly in at 9:45 and go into the box. He leaves quickly but she stays until 13:15 and tends to the scrapes. She returns briefly at 15:10 but there is no further activity today.

23 January 2024 – Video: the female tends to the scrape.

24 Jan – the male flies in at 7:05 for 40 minutes. The female flies in at 9:05 remaining in the box until leaving at 10:55 to be replaced by the male looking well fed but he leaves after just a few minutes. There is no further activity thereafter.

25 Jan – the male flies in at 3:50, leaving four hours later. The pair arrive at 11:10 and go into the box. He leaves after a few minutes bonding and she follows after ten minutes. The male is back at 12:30 for ten minutes. He bounces off the ledge at 15:05 and the female makes a short visit at 16:00. He is back 35 minutes later and remains on the ledge until at least midnight.

26 Jan – the male flies off at 7:05. The female arrives an hour later calling loudly and does not stay long. The male lands briefly at 11:30 and again at 12:05. A Stock Dove was sitting on the ledge at 16:40 and just managed to escape the talons of the incoming male. He flies off at 17:30. There is no more activity thereafter.

27 Jan – the male arrives at 6:55 until 7:40 and is back briefly at 8:20. The female flies in at 13:55 and goes into the box. The male flies in at 14:25 calling loudly but flies off a few minutes later, she follows ten minutes later. The male returns at 15:15 for 15 minutes. He is back at 16:55 but flies out at 19:15 returning 30 minutes later. He is off again at 20:00 looking for a meal and returns at 21:30 with a full crop. He remains until midnight at least.

28 Jan – the male flies off at 7:10. He is back at 8:45 with a full crop, leaving after ten minutes. The female arrives a few minutes later until 9:10. The male returns briefly at 12:55 and is back on the ledge again at 15:40 remaining until at least midnight.

28 January 2024 – Video: the male sits on the ledge watching the city below.

29 Jan – the male remains on the edge until 7:20 when he goes into the box on the arrival of the female. She leaves after a few moments, and he returns to the ledge before flying off 20 minutes later. He is back at 10:00 and replaced by the female at 10:25. She goes into the box to tend the scrape for 20 minutes, then flies out. The male is back at 14:50 for 20 minutes. There is no more activity thereafter.

30 Jan – the male lands at 7:30 but soon leaves. He is back again briefly at 8:05. The pair fly in at 8:35 but the female leaves quickly; the male follows ten minutes later. They are back together at 14:55 and go into the box for a short bonding session. The male soon leaves and the female a few minutes later. There is no further activity today.

31 Jan – the male flies in at 5:40 remaining until 7:25. He is back 20 minutes later with the female, but she does not stay long. He sits on the ledge for a few minutes then leaves. The female returns at 11:15 calling loudly and flies out five minutes later. The pair arrive at 13:30 and the female goes into the box. He quickly leaves but she remains tending the scrapes, until 14:05. They are back at 14:40, the female in the box and the male on the ledge. He leaves after ten minutes, and she follows a few minutes later. The male is back on the ledge at 16:55 until at least midnight.
