1 Jul – XRF flies off at 1:55. The female arrives five minutes later carrying fresh Teal prey and stashes it by a column. It was still alive and manages to escape ten minutes later. The female chases after it but returns without it. She sits on the ledge until flying off at 4:55. She returns briefly at 5:30. XRF flies in at 6:35, checks the scrapes then leaves. The female is back briefly again at 7:45. XRF arrives at 11:20 with part-eaten Feral Pigeon but quickly leaves with it. He is back with a full crop at 13:25 but again quickly leaves. The pair fly into the box at 14:10 for a short bonding session. The male soon moves to the ledge and the female remains in the box tending the scrapes until flying out at 14:40. XRF remains on the ledge preening and dozing until flying off at 18:20.
2 Jul – XRF flies in at 4:10. He visits the box to tend the scrapes for a few minutes at 5:25, then flies off at 5:40. The female flies into the box at 5:55 calling loudly but leaves after five minutes. She is back briefly ten minutes later. XRF returns at 8:15 with a full crop and remains on the ledge until 14:00. He is back 40 minutes later and tends the scrapes in the box then moves to the ledge and flies off at 16:00. He returns at 21:10 and sits on the ledge until midnight.
3 Jul – XRF remains sleeping on the ledge until flying off at 4:25. The female arrives and goes into the box a few minutes later followed by XRF. He quickly leaves and she moves to the ledge and flies off ten minutes later. He returns to the ledge at 12:55 and goes into the box when the female arrives at 15:05, but he quickly leaves. The female follows a few minutes later after tending to a scrape. XRF is back at 18:15 until 20:00. He flies in again at 22:05 and falls asleep on the ledge remaining until midnight.
4 Jul – XRF remains sleeping on the ledge until 4:35 when he goes into the box on the arrival of the female. He flies out quickly when she goes into the box, and she then moves to the ledge and flies off at 5:10. She is back at 6:20 for ten minutes. XRF lands at 9:15 with a full crop. He remains on the ledge until visiting the box for five minutes at 17:25, then leaves 20 minutes later. He is back for five minutes at 20:50 and briefly a few minutes later. He returns with the female at 21:05 and they go into the box. He flies out almost immediately, and she quickly follows. He is back a few minutes later remaining until 22:15.
5 Jul – the female arrives at 2:20 and goes into the box when XRF lands ten minutes later. She forces the male from the ledge a few minutes later and she falls asleep on the ledge, then leaves at 4:10. XRF is back at 13:45 and calls to the sky above him and quickly flies off. He lands briefly ten minutes later. He returns at 14:15 and sits on the ledge until 15:40. He is back at 21:05 and remains until midnight.
6 Jul – XRF remains on the ledge until 4 :30. He flies into the box as the female lands at 6:00. He soon leaves and she quickly follows. He returns with a plucked Feral Pigeon meal at 8:35 but soon leaves. He is back with a full crop 15 minutes later, then goes into the box at 9:05 and moves to the platform at 10:00. He flies off at 12:15 and the female briefly lands. XRF returns at 15:00 for two hours.
7 Jul – XRF flies in at 3:15 and falls asleep on the ledge, then flies off at 4:30. The female lands briefly at 4:50. She is back at 7:20 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey and is quickly followed by the male. She takes her meal into the box but quickly flies out and the male follows. He is back with a full crop at 9:05. He goes into the box two hours later but is back on the ledge after ten minutes. He sits in the shade of the box at 11:40 for 20 minutes. He remains on the ledge until flying off at 17:40. He is back at 18:20 and goes into the box at 20:25 on the return of the female. He flies off after five minutes and she leaves at 20:40.
8 Jul – XRF flies in at 5:20, check the scrapes in the box and leaves after ten minutes. He returns at 13:30, checks the box then moves to the ledge. He flies out three hours later. The female arrives at 18:20 carrying very fresh Feral Pigeon prey. She takes it into the box to feed on. XRF lands at 19:20 and calls incessantly to the female for the next 30 minutes, then settles on the ledge. He tries to steal some food at 20:15 but she forces him away. He tries again five minutes later but she mantles her meal, and he flies off. She leaves soon after with the remnants.
9 Jul – XRF arrives at 5:00, visits the box then moves to the ledge and flies out after 15 minutes. He is back at 6:05 but quickly leaves. He returns at 12:25 and sits on the ledge until 14:30 trying to keep cool with drooped wings. He is back at 17:05 and goes into the box briefly at 18:10 on the arrival of the female carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey. He flies off from the ledge at 18:50 as she feeds on her meal. She leaves with the remains at 19:30.
10 Jul – XRF lands at 5:50, checks the box but leaves a few minutes later. The female flies in at 12:55, goes into the box after five minutes, moves to the ledge ten minutes later then flies off. XRF is back at 15:30 and remains on the ledge until 18:00. The female lands briefly at 18:40.
11 Jul – the male arrives at 4:05 quickly followed by the female. She goes into the box then moves to the ledge when he flies off after a few minutes. She leaves at 4:15. XRF is back at 5:20 and goes into the box for five minutes. He then moves to the ledge and takes three short flights around 5:50 and flies off at 5:55. He returns at 8:05 and goes into the box for five minutes then sits on the ledge with a full crop. He moves to the shade of a column at 10:45 and lies on the platform at 11:15 for 40 minutes. He moves back to the ledge at 12:40 and flies off at 15:45. He is back at 16:10 and takes a short flight at 16:20 and leaves a few minutes later. He is back after ten minutes and leaves at 16:45. He flies into the box at 18:00 for five minutes and is back again at 19:45 for 25 minutes.
12 Jul – XRF arrives at 4:35 and the female joins him ten minutes later. They go into the box, but he soon flies out. She moves to the ledge and leaves at 4:50. She is back in the box an hour later carrying very fresh Feral Pigeon prey. The male soon follows and sits on the ledge watching her feed. She flies out with her meal at 6:10 and he follows. He is back at 12:25. The female flies into the box at 14:10 and the male follows. He soon leaves whilst she remains in the box until flying out at 14:50. XRF lands at 15:00 and remains until 16:20. He is back at 16:55 for 20 minutes. The female lands at 17:55 and remains until 18:40.
13 Jul – the female arrives at 2:40 and remains on the ledge until 4:30. XRF flies into the box at 4:55 then moves to the ledge. He flies off at 5:15 but returns 20 minutes later and remains until 5:50. He is back again at 16:25 for ten minutes.
14 Jul – the adults arrive together at 9:05 and go into the box but the female quickly leaves. XRF moves to the ledge and flies off after five minutes. He returns at 12:30, checks the box then sits on the ledge until 17:20. He lands briefly at 20:55.
15 Jul – the female arrives at 4:45, checks the box at 5:15 and flies out to be replaced by XRF. He leaves after ten minutes. The female lands at 5:30 with very fresh Feral Pigeon prey and is quickly followed by XRF. She takes her meal into the box, plucks it and feeds whilst XRF sits on the ledge watching and calling to her. He gets too close at 5:55 and she mantles her meal and forces him off. She flies off with the pigeon remains at 6:10. XRF is back at 14:05 and sits on the ledge with a full crop. He tends the scrape in the box at 14:50, then quickly returns to the ledge until flying off at 19:00. He returns at 21:20 for 25 minutes.
16 Jul – XRF flies in at 13:20 and sits on the ledge until 14:20. He is back at 18:00. The female flies into the box at 19:30 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey. XRF calls loudly persistently to the female as she plucks and feeds on her meal. He manages to steal a small scrap at 20:40 and flies off with it. She leaves with the remains at 20:55. XRF returns at 21:35 and finds some scraps to feed on. He sits on the ledge at 22:00, falls asleep and remains until midnight.
17 Jul – XRF flies off at 00:40. He returns at 5:35, goes into the box then sits on the ledge. He takes a short flight at 6:40 and returns with the female. She goes into the box, and he flies off. She leaves at 6:50. XRF lands briefly at 7:10 and again at 9:35. The female arrives with fresh Feral Pigeon prey at 9:35 followed closely by XRF. She goes into the box to pluck and feed on her meal whilst XRF sits on the ledge. She flies out with the remains at 10:50 quickly followed by XRF. He is back at 12:45 and goes into the box to feed on scraps, then moves to the ledge until 15:25. He returns at 21:20, checks the box, then moves to the ledge. The female arrives at 21:30 and they go into the box. XRF leaves a few minutes later and female flies off at 21:50.
18 Jul – XRF flies into the box at 10:00, then moves to the ledge and leaves at 10:15. He is back at 19:15 and sits on the ledge with a full crop. He flies off at 20:30 as the female flies in carrying very fresh Feral Pigeon prey. She is immediately followed by juvenile 4AB – the first sighting of this juvenile since 5 June. He snatches the meal from the female and takes it into the box to feed. The female flies off five minutes later. 4AB finishes feeding and moves to the ledge at 21:10 with a full crop and flies off. The female returns at 21:25 and goes into the box to feed on the remains of the meal left by the juvenile. She flies out at 21:50.
19 Jul – the female flies into the box at 5:35 and moves to the ledge 15 minutes later. She leaves at 6:10. XRF arrives at 6:35 but quickly leaves and is replaced by the female. She flies off at 6:45. XRF is back on the ledge at 11:50 until 13:05. He returns with the female at 14:45 and she goes into the box and tends the scrape whilst he sits on the ledge calling to her. She leaves at 15:00 and he flies off at 16:50.
20 Jul – XRF lands on the ledge at 5:50 with a full crop. He leaves when the female flies into the box at 8:20, tends the scrape then quickly leaves. He returns at 9:10 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey and is followed closely by juvenile 4CB. This is the first time we have seen the juvenile since fledging on 5 June. XRF mantles his meal in the box and 4CB flies off. XRF finishes feeding at 9:50 and stashes the remains by a column, then sits on the ledge. He flies off at 10:15 but is back after 15 minutes. He lies on the platform in the shade of a column, then moves back to the ledge at 13:25 and flies off at 18:40. He is back at 19:45 and feeds on the pigeon remains for 15 minutes, then sits on the ledge until leaving at 20:10.
21 Jul – the female arrives at 4:45, feeds on the remains of yesterday’s pigeon and flies out ten minutes later. XRF lands at 5:55 and picks at scraps in the box and tends the scrapes. He quickly moves to the ledge and flies off at 6:25. The female flies in at 9:40, tends the scrapes then leaves five minutes later. XRF returns at 9:45, checks the box then sits on the ledge until 12:50. The female flies in carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey at 13:50. She takes it into the box, plucks it and flies out with it at 14:35. XRF is back at 16:25, checks the scrapes in the box, then sits on the ledge until 17:10. He returns at 21:25 and remains on the ledge until 22:20.
22 Jul – the female arrives at 1:20 carrying fresh Teal prey which she stashes by a column, then sits on the ledge. She has already fed and has a full crop. She flies off at 4:50 as XRF lands and spies the stashed meal. He feeds then flies off with the remains 30 minutes later. He is back with a full crop at 6:40 and sits on the ledge until 11:15 when he goes into the box briefly to tend the scrape, then returns to the ledge. He flies off at 13:10 and is replaced by the female who goes into the box calling incessantly then tends the scrape. She flies out at 13:30. XRF is back at 15:10 until 17:05. He returns briefly at 18:45 and flies into the box at 19:30, quickly leaving.
23 Jul – XRF lands at 5:10 and the female quickly follows and goes into the box. He soon flies out and she leaves a few minutes later. She is back at 6:00, checks the box then flies off. XRF tends the scrape briefly at 6:25. The female returns at 11:25 but quickly leaves. XRF is back at 16:20 and sits on the ledge until 16:45 when he flies off. The female flies into the box at 20:25 to tend the scrape and flies out ten minutes later.
24 Jul – XRF flies in with the female at 5:00. She goes into the box, but he leaves immediately. She remains for 15 minutes and is back at 6:00 for ten minutes. XRF goes into the box at 7:20 to tend the scrapes, then moves to the ledge and flies off at 8:05.
25 Jul – XRF arrives at 5:10 and sits on the ledge until 5:45. The female lands ten minutes later, checks the box then flies out. XRF is back at 6:25 and sits on the ledge until 7:20. The female lands for a few moments at 7:50 and XRF likewise at 9:00. He is back a few minutes later and droops his wings to try and cool, then stands in the shade of the column. He lies in its shadow at 10:30 for 20 minutes, then again from 11:15 until moving to the ledge at four hours later. He flies off at 16:00 but is back after 35 minutes, checks out the box to tend the scrapes, then moves to the ledge and flies off at 16:50. He returns at 21:10 and remains on the ledge until midnight.
26 Jul – XRF remains on the ledge from the previous evening but leaves at 00:25. He returns at 2:20 and is joined by the female at 2:55. She goes into the box, then moves to the ledge. She flies off at 4:40 and XRF leaves at 5:35. He returns at 6:00 for 45 minutes and again at 9:05 for 40 minutes. The female flies into the box at 12:20 to tend the scrape and flies out at 13:25. XRF flies in at 13:50 quickly followed by the female who goes into the box. She flies off at 14:10 but the male remains on the ledge and falls asleep until flying off at 16:50.
27 Jul – XRF lands at 4:55 and is joined by the female who flies into the box ten minutes later. She then moves to the ledge, and he flies off. She leaves at 5:15 and returns briefly at 11:30. XRF is back on the ledge at 11:45. He goes into the box when the female lands at 13:15. He flies out when she moves into the box where she tends the scrape before returning to the ledge and flying off at 13:25.
28 Jul – WATCH DAY – the female flies in with very fresh Feral Pigeon prey at 5:50. She takes it into the box to pluck and feed. She leaves with the remains 30 minutes later. XRF lands at 6:30, checks the box then sits on the ledge and flies off. He is back briefly at 7:20. He returns to the box at 9:35 as we set up the Watch Day display. He stands in the shade of the central column and lies down at 11:15. We hear a second bird calling and the female is located on a window ledge on the north-east section of the spire at 12:30. XRF moves to the ledge at 13:05 and flies off five minutes later. The female flies from the window at 13:45. She returns with XRF at 14:00 and they land on spite crosses. XRF is carrying a Greenfinch meal which he protects by calling loudly to the female – he feeds on his meal. She flies off at 14:15 but is back after 15 minutes. Two Buzzards fly over at 15:00 and are chased by the pair. They are both back at 16:00 with the female on a cross and XRF sitting on the weather vane calling loudly to her. There was no further activity on camera today.
29 Jul – XRF flies in at 10:50, sits in the shade of the box, then lies on the platform spreadeagled until 11:15. He sits in the shade of the central column until 12:50 when he lies on the platform again. The female flies into the box at 14:25 and the male flies off; she follows ten minutes later. XRF returns at 18:40 and sits on the ledge with a full crop until midnight.
30 Jul – WATCH DAY – XRF remains on the ledge from the previous evening until flying off at 5:25. When we arrive for the watch day at 9:30, the female was sitting on the top south-facing cross. She takes a short flight at 10:05 and a further three flights in a 20-minute period. At 11:00, the male is found on the weather vane. He flies off ten minutes later heading east. At 12:30, he returns and flies into the recess below the platform which was previously used by breeding Stock Doves. The female chases after three Feral Pigeons and manages to catch one. She returns to a cross to feed. The male flies onto a cross at 13:30 but is back in the recess an hour later. The female takes another short flight at 14:30. When we left at 16:00, the female was still on the south cross and the male in the recess. There was no further activity on camera today.
