AUGUST 2025

1 Aug – X4F remains in the box and moves to the ledge at 1:35 and falls asleep until flying off at 4:50. The adult female replaces him on the ledge. She leaves at 5:55 and the adult male lands at 6:35. He checks the box then returns to the ledge, takes a short flight at 6:50 and leaves at 7:55. X4F returns at 8:15 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey. She plucks and feeds on her meal then stashes the remains at 8:30 and flies off with a full crop ten minutes later. X6F flies in at 12:20 and finds the stashed pigeon and feeds. At 12:35, X4F arrives with another Feral Pigeon and goes into the box. X7F lands immediately after and sits on the ledge. X6F mantles her meal from X7F, and he returns to the ledge watching both siblings feed. X4F then brings her meal out onto the platform next to X7F and she allows him to feed on her meal for ten minutes before taking control and finishing it, despite having already fed well. X7F moves back to the ledge and X6F has finished at 13:00. X4F flies out with the remains of her meal at 13:15 and X7F feeds on the remaining scraps, then flies out at 13:30. X6F remains on the ledge until going into the box at 15:10. She moves back to the platform at 16:40, feeds on scraps and flies off at 17:05. The adult male is back at 17:35 and goes into the box until returning to the ledge at 17:55. He is chased into the box by the arrival of X7F at 18:05 and quickly leaves; X7F follows a few minutes later. X4F is back at 20:20 and lies on the platform until flying off at 20:45. X6F lands five minutes later, checks for food and flies out.

1 August 2025 – Video: X4F takes her meal to the platform and allows X7F to feed on it.

2 Aug – X7F makes a brief visit at 5:05. The adult male tries to snatch a Woodpigeon that is on the ledge at 9:05 but it escapes, and he flies off. X7F flies in at 9:55 but is replaced a few minutes later by X4F who remains until 12:00. X4F is back at 14:30 for five minutes. X4F and X6F arrive together at 15:50. X6F leaves at 16:10 whilst X4F remains on the ledge. She is joined by X6F at 18:15. X4F takes a short flight at 18:35 and they fly out together at 18:40. X4F is back at 22:00 and goes into the box.

3 Aug – X4F moves to the platform at 2:00 and falls asleep. She flies out at 4:55 and is replaced by X7F who leaves after ten minutes, returning at 9:15 for five minutes. X4F is back at 10:55 looking wet and bedraggled and remains until 11:10. She returns at 12:25 with a part-eaten Feral Pigeon. She has finished eating at 12:50 and is joined by X6F who looks for scraps. X4F lies on the platform whilst its sibling sits on the ledge. X4F flies out at 14:15 and X6F leaves 20 minutes later. X7F is back at 15:15 and sits on the ledge. He flies out at 17:45 and immediately returns with his siblings; X4F is carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey. X4F takes her meal into the box whilst the two other juveniles sit on the ledge. X7F tries to muscle in after five minutes but is forced back. X6F grabs a part of the meal and the two share and X7F manages to steal a morsel. He manages to feed with X4F at 18:05 and take control ten minutes later. X6F is already well fed and just watches X7F feed from the ledge. There is nothing left soon after and all three sit on the ledge until 19:15 when X6F flies off. X4F leaves 15 minutes later and X7F at 19:40.

3 August 2025 – Video: X7F – drags X4F across the box to share her meal.

4 Aug – X4F arrives at 6:05 carrying part-eaten Feral Pigeon, feeds then flies out after 15 minutes. X7F lands ten minutes later with more Feral Pigeon and is quickly followed by X4F but she does not stay. X7F feeds and leaves some scraps on the platform, flying off at 6:45 but is back at 8:00 and finishes the scraps and flies off ten minutes later. X6F is back at 10:40 and is joined after 15 minutes by X7F sporting a full crop. X6F completes the trio at 11:05. They all lie on the platform at 12:05. X4F goes into the box at 12:40 whilst its two siblings move to the ledge. X6F flies off at 13:00 but returns after ten minutes and has a short bonding session with X7F. They all lie on the platform again at 13:50 for 20 minutes. X4F flies off at 14:25, X6F an hour later and X7F after a further ten minutes. The adult male lands at 17:00 and goes into the box as the female arrives with freshly plucked Feral Pigeon five minutes later. X4F flies in and grabs the meal; the male leaves quickly and the female soon after. X4F moves to the platform at 17:40. She takes her meal back into the box at 18:00 as X6F lands. X6F goes into the box at 18:20 and tries to steal the meal but is forced back to the ledge. There is another unsuccessful attempt a few minutes later and a tug-o-war over the scraps at 18:45 that X6F wins. They both sit on the ledge five minutes later. X6F takes a short flight at 18:55 and again at 19:05. X6F flies out at 19:20 and returns at 20:25 whilst X4F remains on the platform. X6F is off again at 20:45 and returns at 21:50 and greets its sibling. X4F flies out at 22:20 and X6F falls asleep.

5 Aug – X6F remains on the ledge from the previous evening and is joined by X4F at 00:50. X7F joins its siblings at 5:00 and they fly out in synchronicity ten minutes later. X6F is back at 7:55. She flies out at 8:35 and returns a few minutes later with X7F but X6F soon leaves. X7F lies on the platform until moving into the box at 9:10. He moves to the ledge at 9:35, then flies out. X6F is back at 10:25. The adult female arrives with plucked Feral Pigeon prey at 11:10 and X6F snatches it from her. The female flies out but strangely X6F stashes the meal in the box, then sits on the ledge, then flies out at 15:00. X4F returns at 16:25 and spies the stashed pigeon and feeds in the box. At 17:05, the adult female arrives with very fresh Feral Pigeon prey. She plucks the meal whilst X4F remains in the box. At 17:15, an unidentified sibling (most probably X6F) swoops in and snatches the meal from the female and flies out. X4F starts calling to the female who sits in the box and is soon joined by X7F, both now call loudly at the female. She flies out at 17:30 followed by X7F five minutes later. X4F moves to the ledge at 17:50 and leaves after ten minutes. X6F is back at 19:10 and looks for scraps, then flies out at 19:55. She is back at 21:45 and falls asleep on the ledge until midnight.

6 Aug – X6F remains sleeping on the ledge until 4:50 when she flies out and is replaced immediately by X7F who leaves at 5:10, and returns at 7:40 for ten minutes. X4F arrives at 13:05 and lies on the platform until flying off at 15:00. At 15:45, X7F lands and is followed quickly by its two siblings, with X4F carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey and takes it into the box. X6F grabs hold of the pigeon at 16:10 and drags it onto the platform where it shares the meal with X4F. X7F tries to muscle in but quickly retreats but manages a few scraps as its siblings drag the meal back into the box. X7F tries again a few minutes later but quickly backs off and sits on the ledge. X4F has finished feeding at 16:35 and moves to the ledge and there is little left of the meal when X6F does the same five minutes later. X7F goes into the box looking for scraps at 17:10 whilst the other two sit on the ledge with full crops. X6F and X7F fly out at 17:15 and X4F follows ten minutes later. There was no activity thereafter.

7 Aug – X7F flies in at 5:20 for ten minutes. X4F lands at 10:05 calling loudly and looking overhead, leaves after five minutes and is replaced briefly by X7F. X6F arrives at 11:40 and lies on the platform at 12:05. At 12:50, the adult female arrives with fresh Feral Pigeon prey and X6F immediately snatches the meal. X4F quickly arrives and the female leaves. X4F watches its sibling pluck the pigeon and lies on the platform. At 13:45, they share the meal although X6F has the majority control. The remains are stashed at 14:00 and the pair sit on the ledge with full crops. X6F flies out at 16:25 whilst X4F feeds on the stashed remains, then flies off at 17:30. X7F is back 15 minutes later and feeds on scraps. He moves to the ledge at 18:30 and flies off 15 minutes later. X6F returns briefly at 20:20. X7F lands at 21:00 quickly followed by X4F and they feed on scraps. X4F leaves after a few minutes whilst X7F remains until 21:15. X7F is soon back with X6F. Strangely, X7F forces its sibling from the ledge, then flies out itself. X6F is back at 23:35 and falls asleep.

8 Aug – X6F remains on the ledge until flying off at 5:25. X7F flies in at 6:45 carrying part-eaten Feral Pigeon prey and is quickly followed by X6F who is also carrying part of the same meal. X7F flies out at 6:50 and X6F at 7:00 after finishing its meal. X7F lands at 9:30 with a full crop, checks the box, sits on the ledge then lies on the platform at 10:00. He is disturbed by X4F who lands at 10:45 and goes into the box. X4F then lies on the platform whilst X7F watches from the ledge before lying next to its sibling at 12:10. X4F flies off at 12:15, returning 20 minutes later. The two remain until flying off 14:25. X4F returns at 19:05 and sits on the ledge until 19:50. X7F and X4F fly in together at 21:05 and remain until midnight.

9 Aug – X7F and X4F remain on the ledge until the latter flies off at 2:05. X7F leaves 20 minutes later but returns at 3:00 and falls asleep until flying off at 5:10. X6F lands briefly at 5:30 and X7F is back at 5:40 for five minutes. X4F returns at 9:20 quickly followed by X6F and X7F after a few moments. X4F and X6F ‘share’ the meal whilst X7F watches from the ledge already looking well fed. X4F gives up the meal at 9:35 and moves to the ledge with a full crop, then flies off. X4F returns at 10:05. They stand together and watch the sky as something (adult?) goes over at 10:40. All three remain until 13:35 when X6F flies out followed by X7F after ten minutes and X4F a few moments after. There was no further activity on camera.

10 Aug – X6F lands briefly at 5:20. The adult male lands at 12:20 sporting a full crop, checks out the box then sits on the ledge until 15:05. X4F lands briefly at 17:25 for five minutes. At 18:15, X7F arrives carrying Feral Pigeon prey and is quickly followed by X6F and X4F. It mantles its meal in the box and fends off the two siblings. X4F tries to steal the meal but X7F flies out and is quickly pursued. They soon return without the meal and leave again at 18:30. X6F flies in at 22:35 with very fresh Feral Pigeon prey and plucks and feeds on the pigeon until midnight at least.

10 August 2025 – Video: X7F mantles its meal as X4F tries to steal it.

11 Aug – X6F continues feeding until 00:45, then sits on the ledge with a full crop and flies off at 5:10. She returns three hours later and feeds on the leftovers before leaving at 8:45. X4F lands at 9:25 with part-eaten Feral Pigeon prey quickly followed by X6F. X4F leaves after a few minutes and X6F soon follows. There is no further activity on camera today.

12 Aug – WATCH DAY – X6F lands at 4:15 and sits on the ledge until 5:20. The adult female arrives five minutes later and goes into the box for ten minutes, scrapes in the stones then sits on the ledge before flying off at 5:40. On arrival at the Cathedral for the Watch Day at 9:30, one of the juveniles was sitting on a high cross and flew off at 10:20. The adult female put in a brief appearance a few minutes later. She returns at 10:40 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey which she plucks whilst sitting on a cross. She flies off with the meal at 11:15 and returns with X6F in tow and makes a food pass. They both sit on a cross and are joined by a second unidentified juvenile. X6F calls loudly for 30 minutes before flying into the box with the prey taken from the female. The female flies off and the second juvenile flies north a few minutes later. The male flies in from the west at 12:00 and goes and sits on a stash window on the west side of the spire. X6F sits on the platform until flying off at 14:05. It returns immediately and starts to feed on the pigeon, then sits on the ledge at 14:25 until 15:05. There is no further activity thereafter.

13 Aug – the female flies in at 00:10 carrying fresh Black-tailed Godwit prey. It already has a full crop and stashes its meal by a column, sits on the ledge and flies out at 00:35. X6F flies in at 2:40 with Black-headed Gull prey. It feeds then stashes the remains at 5:15, sits on the ledge and flies out ten minutes later. X4F lands at 5:30, checks the stashed prey but quickly leaves. It is back at 13:00 and feeds on the stashed Godwit. There are just scraps left at 14:10 and she sits on the ledge until flying off at 16:40. X6F lands at 17:35 and feeds on the scraps, then sits on the ledge until flying off at 18:50 to be replaced by the adult female. She checks out the box and feeds on scraps then leaves at 19:05. X4F returns at 20:05 for 15 minutes.

14 Aug – the female lands at 6:45 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey. She takes it into the box and flies out with the remains at 7:15. X4F flies in at 11:15 with what looks to be the same meal that was brought in by the female earlier today. X4F feeds on it until 12:05 when X6F lands and snatches the remains of the meal and flies off. X4F moves to the ledge with a full crop and falls asleep, then flies off at 15:10. X6F is back at 18:50 and picks at scraps on the platform and flies off after ten minutes. At 19:05, X6F flies in with fresh Feral Pigeon prey pursued by X4F and they go into the box. Both get their talons around the prey and tussle for, then share the meal and feed together. After 20 minutes X6F looks well fed and moves to the ledge. X4F finishes off the pigeon at 19:45, and X6F feeds on the few scraps left and flies out at 20:00. The adult female arrives with fresh Teal prey at 23:35 and stashes it by a column, checks the box then flies out. X4F watches but remains on the ledge until midnight.

14 August 2025 – Video: despite X4F despite mantling its prey, X6F snatches the meal.

15 Aug – X4F remains on the ledge until 00:55. The female flies in at 8:50 and grabs the stashed Teal and leaves with it. The male arrives a few minutes later and goes into the box. He moves to the ledge at 9:10 and visits the box to make scrapes in the stones before flying off at 10:45. He is back at 15:10 and sits on the ledge for 30 minutes. There is no further activity on camera.

16 Aug – the adult male lands at 5:15. The female joins him at 6:05 and they go into the box. He leaves after a few moments bonding, and she flies out ten minutes later after making scrapes in the stones. There is no further activity today and for the first time since fledging, NONE of the juveniles returned to the box.

17 Aug – the male arrives at 6:50 for 15 minutes. He returns with the female at 7:35 and they go into the box for a short bonding session. He soon leaves and the female five minutes later after scraping the stones in two separate areas. X4F lands at 13:50 with a full crop and sits on the ledge until 16:55. She is back at 17:25 carrying scraps of a meal, quickly finishes them and sits on the ledge until 20:50.

18 Aug – X4F flies in at 9:20 and looks for scraps on the platform, then sits on the ledge before flying off at 10:05. She is back at 13:25 for ten minutes. At 22:55, X6F who has not been seen on camera since the 14th, sits on the ledge until midnight.

19 Aug – X6F remains sleeping on the ledge until 5:25. She is back at 7:35 until 8:00. X6F lands at 10:55 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey and feeds on platform and stashes the remains. The adult female flies in at 11:40 and is chased by the juvenile who forces her from the platform. X6F then sits on the ledge with a full crop until 12:40. The male lands at 19:30 and sits on the ledge for ten minutes.

20 Aug – X6F lands at 5:30 and goes into the box looking for food, then sits on the ledge until flying off ten minutes later. The adult female flies in at 5:55 and finds scraps on the platform. She goes into the box, then moves to the ledge and flies off at 6:15. She returns with very fresh Feral Pigeon prey at 8:55 and takes it into the box to feed and flies off at 9:50. The male lands at 11:35 and goes into the box, makes two scrapes in the stones, then moves to the ledge and flies off at 12:15. X6F and X4F fly in together at 14:35, they check the box and X4F quickly leaves and X6F at 14:45. X4F is back briefly five minutes later.

20 August 2025 – Video: the male makes a scrape in the stones.

21 Aug – the female flies in at 8:20 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey with X6F clinging on. She takes it into the box and releases the meal and leaves. X6F drags it to the platform and feeds. There is little left at 9:05 and X6F sits on the ledge, flying off five minutes later. The male lands with pre-plucked Feral Pigeon at 11:30 but flies out with it a few minutes later. X6F lands at 18:00 and picks at scraps. She is joined by X4F at 18:15. X6F leaves a few minutes later whilst X4F remains until 18:25.

22 Aug – X6F arrives at 6:00 and flies off after five minutes. The adult female lands at 6:35 but is forced off by the returning juvenile who quickly follows. The female is back at 8:20 and goes into the box tending the scrapes until flying out at 9:15. The male lands on the ledge at 15:30 for 20 minutes. X6F flies in at 18:30, goes into the box looking for food and flies out five minutes later.

23 Aug – X6F flies in at 1:20 carrying very fresh Black-tailed Godwit prey. It plucks and feeds on the platform and stashes the remains by a column 55 minutes later. She then sits on the ledge with a full crop, flying off at 5:55. She is back at 17:00 and retrieves the stashed godwit and feeds on the platform. She has finished feeding at 17:55 and leaves the remains on the platform, then moves to the ledge before flying off at 18:05.

24 Aug – the adult male lands at 6:55 and goes into the box and works on both scrapes. He is joined by the female five minutes later for a brief bonding session. He flies out after a few minutes, and she works on both scrapes before leaving at 7:10. The pair are back in the box at 11:35. He soon leaves, and she tends the scrapes, then flies off after ten minutes.

25 Aug – the female flies in with part-eaten Feral Pigeon at 4:15. She stashes it by a column and sits on the ledge with a full crop and flies off at 5:00. The male arrives at 8:45 and feeds on the stashed pigeon. He finishes off the meal and then the remains of the godwit, and sits on the ledge at 9:10. He goes into the box five minutes later and flies off at 9:25. He is back at 15:55 and goes into the box at 16:15 when the female flies in. He leaves after a few minutes bonding whilst she tends the scrapes and flies out ten minutes later. The male returns at 23:15 and remains until midnight.

25 August 2025 – Video: the pair engage in a short bout of bonding.

26 Aug – the male remains on the ledge until 2:50. He is back at 4:20 and falls asleep until 5:50 when he picks at the scraps of the godwit, then returns to the ledge. He flies off at 6:35 and returns at 7:20 for 15 minutes. He is back at 9:55 and goes into the box at to look for food and make scrapes in the stones, then flies off at 14:15. He returns at 17:35 and makes scrapes in the box before leaving at 18:40.

27 Aug – the male lands briefly at 3:25 and returns at 3:45. The female flies in at 4:10 carrying Common Tern prey and leaves. The male sees the stashed meal and picks at it but leaves it by a column as he is already well fed. He goes into the box at 5:55 for ten minutes to tend the scrapes, then returns to the ledge. He feeds on the tern at 8:30 and flies off at 8:45. The female returns at 9:40 and looks for her meal. She picks up the remains and takes them into the box, then flies out with them a few moments later. The male lands briefly at 10:40. He male returns at 15:20 and sits on the ledge until 16:50. X4F, who we haven’t seen on camera since the 21st, flies in at 20:55 carrying a part-eaten meal. She stashes it by a column and sits on the ledge until midnight.

28 Aug – X4F remains on the ledge from the previous evening and is joined by the male at 5:25 but she forces him off. The juvenile mantles the scraps of previous meals as the male lands a few moments later and is forced from the platform once again. The juvenile feeds on the scraps then flies out at 5:35. The male returns at 7:55, tends the scrapes in the box and feeds on scraps, then flies off at 8:10. He returns at 16:00, scrapes stones in the box and flies out ten minutes later. The female flies into the box at 19:55 and leaves 15 minutes later.

29 Aug – the male lands briefly at 5:50. He returns for a few minutes in the rain at 16:20. The female arrives at 23:30 and remains on the ledge until midnight.

30 Aug – the female leaves at 00:15. The male arrives at 6:00, goes into the box to tend the scrapes and finds scraps to feed on, then flies out at 6:15. The female returns at 6:55 and goes into the box to tend the scrapes, then moves to the ledge and leaves at 7:05. The male is back at 9:25 and checks the scrapes in the box and leaves ten minutes later. The female returns at 11:55 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey and takes it into the box to feed and stashes the remains at 12:00 as she is already well fed. The male lands at 12:20 and snatches the stashed meal and flies out, the female quickly follows. At 21:00, an adult male arrives with a colour ring attached, followed by juvenile X6F; the juvenile quickly forces him from the ledge and follows. The adult-plumaged male is XRF, last year’s youngster that remained into this season and was trying to oust the resident male earlier this year before being forced from the territory – this could be a problem for the resident pair. X6F is back a few minutes later and remains on the ledge until midnight.

31 Aug – X6F flies out at 1:25 and returns after 15 minutes. The resident male arrives at 4:05 but is forced from the platform by the juvenile. She flies off at 5:45. X6F returns at 12:10 and sits on the ledge until 14:00. The adult male flies into the box at 16:25 and is quickly joined by the female. He moves to the ledge after ten minutes bonding, then flies off. She remains in the box tending the scrapes until 18:00. The male returns at 19:50 until 20:25.
