SEPTEMBER 2025

1 Sep – the male arrives at 5:45, goes into the box for five minutes and tends both scrapes, then sits on the ledge. He moves back to the box at 7:00 for another five minutes and again at 8:25 to tend the scrapes. The female arrives at 9:40 and the pair go into the box for a brief bonding session. The male is soon back on the ledge until returning to the box at 11:20 for five minutes. He then flies off at 11:40 but the female remains in the box until leaving at 13:50. The male returns at 19:20 for an hour.

2 Sep – the male arrives at 3:55 for 15 minutes and a brief appearance at 6:15. He is back at 12:20 and goes into the box for a few moments, then flies off. He returns for five minutes at 15:15. He quickly returns and goes into the box and tends the scrapes, then moves to the ledge. He is joined in the box by the female at 16:10. He leaves after five minutes bonding, and she follows ten minutes later after tending the scrape. He flies in again at 17:40 but leaves after five minutes. He lands on the ledge at 19:25 until 20:05.

3 Sep – the male lands at 3:35 and falls asleep until leaving at 6:15. He returns at 11:00 and sits on the ledge until 14:05. The female flies in at 23:10 with fresh Feral Pigeon prey which she stashes by a column, then sits on the ledge until midnight.

4 Sep – the female remains on the ledge with a full crop until she goes into the box at 5:35 on the arrival of the male. She protects her stashed meal, and he flies off. She follows at 5:50. The male is back at 8:10, tends to the scrapes in the box then sits on the ledge until leaving at 8:25. The pair return to the box at 12:05 for a short bonding session. The male flies out at 12:15 whilst the female tends the scrapes and remains in the box until 14:15. The male returns at 17:20, checks the box then sits on the ledge until 18:50.

5 Sep – the male arrives at 9:55 and sits on the ledge until 10:15 when he moves into the box and scrapes the stones. He is back on the ledge at 10:40 and remains until 13:20 when he flies off. He is back very briefly at 16:40.

6 Sep – the male arrives at 6:00 and flies out at 6:25. The female lands briefly at 6:45. She is back in the box at 9:35 and tends the scrapes for ten minutes. The male lands on the ledge at 9:55 for five minutes. The pair fly in at 16:50 and spend five minutes bonding before the male moves to the ledge and flies off at 17:00. The female tends to the scrapes then follows five minutes later.

7 Sep – the male arrives at 5:50 until 6:30. He is back two hours later looking well fed and goes into the box to tend the scrape, then sits on the ledge. The female joins him at 8:35 but she quickly flies off; he returns to the ledge. He flies off at 10:25 but is back at 11:15 and goes into the box tending the scrapes, before moving to the ledge. He leaves at 12:35 and returns at 17:00 for 25 minutes. He is back again at 19:40 and sits on the ledge with a full crop until 20:05.

8 Sep – the male lands at 8:55 and remains on the ledge until 10:45. He is back for a few minutes at 11:40. He at 12:05 and flies off at 12:45. The female flies in five minutes later with very fresh Feral Pigeon prey and takes it into the box to pluck and feed. The male soon arrives and sits on the ledge watching. He tries to snatch a morsel at 15:10 but the female mantles her meal. He tries again at 15:35 but quickly returns to the ledge. The female flies off at 16:00 and the male has the opportunity to feed on the scraps. He is back on the ledge 15 minutes later and flies off at 18:05. The female returns briefly with a full crop at 18:45.

8 September 2025 – Video: the male tries to snatch the meal from the female but she mantles her prey.

9 Sep – WATCH DAY – the pair fly into the box at 6:40. The male quickly leaves but the female moves to the ledge at 7:00, then flies off. When we arrive for the Watch Day at 9:30, both adults are on the north side of the spire; the female is sitting on a cross whilst the male sits snuggly in one of the circular windows – a favourite position for him. The female flies into the box at 10:30 but the male remains in the window until he lands briefly on the ledge at 11:30, calls to the female, then flies off east. The female tends to the scrapes, then leaves at 13:00. The male returns at 14:40, also checks the scrapes in the box, then sits on the ledge until he flies off at 16:35.

10 Sep – the male flies into the box at 13:30 and tends to the scrapes, then moves to the ledge ten minutes later. The female arrives at 14:00 and they go into the box for a 15-minute bonding session. The male then moves to the ledge and flies off whilst the female remains in the box, tends the scrapes, preens and dozes. She moves to the ledge at 15:10 and flies off five minutes later.

11 Sep – the male lands at 3:15 and falls asleep on the ledge and flies off at 6:25. He is back at 9:40 with a full crop and goes into the box, then moves to the ledge. The female joins him at 9:55 and they go into the box. He flies out at 10:05 whilst she remains preening and dozing until flying out at 13:55. The male returns at 18:35 and goes into the box for ten minutes, then moves to the ledge and leaves at 19:25.

12 Sep – the male arrives at 2:05 and falls asleep on the ledge. He flies out at 6:15 and quickly returns with the female. He soon leaves and she follows a few moments later. The male is back at 9:20 with a full crop and spends five minutes tending the scrapes in the box, then moves to the ledge before flying off at 10:35, just after the female arrives: she leaves five minutes later. He is back at 10:55 and checks out the scrapes, then moves to the ledge. He remains until 15:25 and is quickly replaced by the female carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey. She stashes the remains at 16:20 and flies off. The male lands at 16:45 and feeds on the pigeon. There is nothing left at 17:55 and is joined by the female. They go into the box briefly, but he soon leaves. She picks at scraps then flies out at 18:20.

13 Sep – the male arrives at 4:15 remaining until 6:20. He is back at 6:55 remaining until 8:25. He returns at 10:30 and goes into the box to tend the scrapes then moves to the ledge. The female flies in at 12:25 and the pair go into the box for a short bonding session. He returns to the ledge, then flies off whilst she remains in the box tending the scrapes until flying off at 14:05. The male is back with a full crop at 18:05 and remains on the ledge until midnight.

14 Sep – the male remains sleeping on the ledge from the previous evening. He flies off at 6:05 and lands briefly 30 minutes later. There is no further activity on camera today.

15 Sep – the male flies in at 6:10 and is joined by the female a few minutes later; they go into the box for a brief bonding session. The male quickly leaves whilst the female flies out at 7:05. He is back at 7:30 and goes into the box 15 minutes later, on the arrival of the female. He moves to the ledge after five minutes until 8:05, whilst the female remains in the box. The male is back at 12:10 and goes into the box with the female. She quickly flies out and returns at 14:40. The male moves to the ledge after another bout of bonding and flies off at 14:50. The female remains in the box until flying out at 17:25. The male lands briefly at 18:25.

16 Sep – contrary to what has happened most recent mornings, it was the female who flew in early, arriving at 2:00. She leaves at 6:35 and is replaced by the male a few moments later. He goes into the box briefly at 6:50, returns to the ledge and flies off. The female is back at 8:20 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey and takes it into the box to pluck and feed. She stashes the remains at 9:05 and flies off with a full crop five minutes later. The male arrives after a few minutes, finds the stashed meal and feeds until 9:40 when he returns to the ledge looking very well fed. The female is back at 12:35 and the pair go into the box for a brief bonding session; the male quickly leaves. The female remains in the box, tends the scrape, and at 13:40 feeds on the stashed pigeon, then flies out at 14:50. The male returns at 15:05 and feeds on the pigeon scraps, then sits on the ledge until leaving at 16:45. He is back at 19:20 until 19:45.

17 Sep – the male arrives at 1:25 and remains on the ledge until leaving at 6:45. The female flies in at 7:00 and goes into the box. The male flies in at 8:40 and there is a brief bonding session before she leaves. He remains until flying out at 8:55. There is no activity on camera thereafter.

18 Sep – the male flies in at 7:45 quickly followed by the female. They go into the box for a brief bout of bonding before the male leaves. She flies out at 7:55 after tending the scrape. The male returns at 9:55 for two hours, tending the scrape before leaving. He is back at 12:35. The female flies into the box in a rush at 13:40. A few seconds later, juvenile X7F lands on the platform (it has not been seen on camera since 10 August). The male flies off, and the female forces the juvenile from the ledge. The male is back at 14:20 and the female lands a few minutes later. They go into the box for a short bonding session and the male leaves at 14:30 whilst the female remains in the box. She moves to the platform at 15:15 then flies off. The male returns at 17:10, goes into the box to tend the scrapes and returns to the ledge at 17:25. He takes a short flight at 20:55 and returns a few moments later carrying fresh Golden Plover prey which he stashes by a column. He remains on the ledge until midnight, no doubt defending the nest site from intruders including his offspring!

19 Sep – the male takes a short (hunting) flight at 00:50. He returns and grabs the stashed plover, partially plucks it and returns it at 1:05 and moves back to the ledge. At 6:00, he feeds on the plover and flies off with the remains at 6:15. He flies into the box at 6:30 for five minutes, then moves to the ledge sporting a full crop. He goes into the box briefly at 9:20 and flies off at 10:30. He is back at 15:00 but leaves after five minutes. He returns at 16:15 with some scraps and feeds. There is another brief visit to the box at 17:45 to tend the scrapes, then flies off at 18:05. He returns at 22:35 but sees something in the sky at 22:50 and flies off.

20 Sep – the male flies in at 3:20 with another very fresh Golden Plover. He stashes it by a column and sits on the ledge. He flies off at 4:50 but returns a few minutes later with fresh Snipe prey. He plucks the Snipe and flies out with it at 6:05. He is back at 8:35 and feeds on the Plover and flies off with the remains 15 minutes later. He is back at 8:50, checks out the scrapes in the box, then sits on the ledge until 9:50. The pair fly in at 12:15 and go into the box for a ten-minute bonding session. The male then moves to the ledge and flies off at 12:30. The female tends to the scrapes, then sits on the ledge at 12:45 and flies out.

21 Sep – the female lands at 2:25. The male joins her at 6:25 and she goes into the box, however he flies out after a few moments, and she soon follows. The male is back at 10:00 with a full crop and goes into the box for 15 minutes before moving to the ledge and flying off at 10:20. He returns at 13:30 and goes into the box until 14:40 when he moves to the ledge until 16:00 when he goes back into the box. He flies out at 16:35.

22 Sep – the male arrives at 6:15 for 20 minutes. The pair fly into the box at 7:35 and the male moves to the ledge after a couple of minutes, then flies off. The female remains in the box tending the scrapes until flying out at 9:15. The male is back at 10:45 and goes into the box for an hour, tends to the scrapes, then flies out. He returns at 14:45, sits on the ledge for five minutes and goes into the box and falls asleep. He moves to the ledge at 16:25 and flies off five minutes later.

23 Sep – the male lands briefly at 6:55 and returns for a few minutes at 16:55. There was no other activity on camera today.

24 Sep – the male arrives at 7:40 and goes into the box briefly 15 minutes later, then flies off at 8:00. There was no other activity on camera today.

25 Sep – the female arrives at 6:00 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey which she stashes by a column, then sits on the ledge until flying off at 6:20. The male flies in at 10:00 and the female quickly follows; they go into the box. He soon leaves and she feeds on the stashed pigeon, then flies out with it at 10:10. The male is back at 11:20, goes into the box at 11:55 for ten minutes, feeds on scraps then flies out. He returns at 14:00 and goes into the box after five minutes, then moves to the ledge at 14:15 until leaving at 15:35.

26 Sep – the male arrives on the ledge at 6:15 but is replaced by the female ten minutes later. She goes into the box to tend the scrape at 6:35 and flies out ten minutes later. The male flies into the box with a full crop and tends the scrape at 10:55 where he remains until 11:55 when he flies off. The female flies in with very fresh Feral Pigeon prey at 16:05. She takes it into the box to pluck and feed and leaves with her meal at 17:00. The male arrives at 17:35 and sits on the ledge until leaving at 19:20.

27 Sep – the male flies in at 5:30. At 7:30, he notices some remains of the plover meal and flies off with it. He returns at 7:45 quickly followed by the female and they go into the box. He flies out after a few minutes bonding and she leaves at 8:05. The pair are back in the box at 15:00. He leaves after five minutes whilst she tends the scrape and remains until 15:50.

28 Sep – the male arrives at 12:10, checks the scrapes in the box at 12:45 and returns to the ledge. The female arrives at 13:00 and the pair go into the box. He quickly returns to the ledge, then flies off. She watches him from the platform and follows at 13:10. He is back at 17:45 and checks the box, then flies off at 18:25.

29 Sep – the female lands on the ledge at 5:55. She goes into the box at 6:45 to tend the scrapes, then flies out at 7:20. On a short visit to the city centre at 15:45, I noted the male was sitting in the circular window on the east of the spire and the female was on the cross above. The male lands on the ledge at 17:30, goes into the box, tends the scrapes, then returns to the ledge and leaves five minutes later. The female flies in at 23:55 carrying fresh Feral Pigeon prey which she stashes by a column.

30 Sep – the female remains on the ledge from the previous evening. She goes into the box when the male arrives at 6:20. He eyes up the stashed pigeon, but she grabs it, and he flies off. She leaves with her meal a few minutes later. The male is back at 7:55, goes into the box to tend the scrape, then moves to the ledge before leaving at 8:20. The pair fly into the box at 13:00. The male leaves after a few minutes bonding whilst the female tends the scrape and remains until 14:55.
