The Next Leicester Peregrine Watch Day: Tuesday 13 January 2026 at 09:30 – weather dependent.

JANUARY 2026

5 Jan – the male lands at 6:40. He takes a short flight 15 minutes later but quickly returns. The female flies into the box at 7:20 and tends the scrapes. There is a short bout of bonding then the male leaves at 7:35. The female moves to the ledge and flies off after five minutes. The male is back briefly at 10:30. The pair return at 12:30 for a few minutes of bonding, then the male flies out. The female moves to the ledge with a full crop until flying off at 13:05.

4 Jan – the male lands at 7:25 until 7:50. He is back at 11:25 and goes into the box, then moves to the ledge where he sits with a full crop. He flies off at 12:00 but soon returns, then leaves at 13:10.

3 Jan – the male lands at 7:30 and takes a short flight at 7:55 before leaving at 8:05. The female lands briefly at 9:30. The male arrives with a full crop an hour later and sits on the ledge. The female joins him at 11:20, they have a short bonding session, and both fly off. She is back at 11:35, checks the box and leaves. She returns a few moments later and sits on the ledge until 12:40. The male returns at 15:55 and sits on the ledge until 17:05.

3 January 2026 – Video: the male sits on the ledge watching the skies and the street activity below.

2 Jan – the female lands at 6:30 and goes into the box on the arrival of the male at 7:15. He flies off a after a few minutes and she leaves at 7:35. The male is back at 8:30, checks the box then leaves ten minutes later. He soon returns with the female, and they go into the box. The female leaves, and the male quickly follows. The male is back at 9:20, goes into the box and moves to the ledge five minutes later. He visits the box again at 10:05 but soon returns to the ledge before flying off at 10:20. The female flies in at 10:30 and checks the box, then leaves at 10:50. She is back at 14:20 for a few minutes. The male is back at 16:00, checks the box then sits on the ledge until 17:05.

1 Jan – the male flies in at 1:20. He leaves at 3:45 and the female lands at 5:40. She goes into the box at 7:55 as the male joins her. She soon flies out and he follows a few moments later. The female is back at 12:00 and spends 15 minutes tidying the scrapes and around the platform. The male lands at 16:20 for 15 minutes.

DECEMBER 2025

31 Dec – the female flies in at 2:00 carrying fresh Woodpigeon prey which she stashes by a column, then sits on the ledge with a full crop having already fed. She flies off at 7:40 and returns at 8:50. She goes into the box and tends the scrapes, then feeds on the stashed pigeon at 9:05 and flies off with it a few minutes later. The male arrives at 12:05, checks the box then sits on the ledge until flying off at 12:45. He is back a few minutes later with the female looking well fed. He soon leaves but she remains in the box until flying out at 13:25.

30 Dec – the male arrives at 4:30 for 15 minutes. He returns with the female at 8:00. There is a brief bout of bonding, then he leaves. She tends the scrapes and flies out at 8:10. At 10:40, we spent 30 minutes adding new stones, cleaning the cameras and general maintenance to the nest box. The pair fly in at 15:30 and bond for a few minutes. The male then flies out whilst the female tends to the scrape. She flies out at 15:45.

29 Dec – the male arrives at 6:05 for 20 minutes and the female lands briefly at 7:55. The female is back at 9:35 and goes into the box to tend the scrapes and flies out after 15 minutes. She returns with the male at 12:45 for a short bonding session. He leaves after a few minutes, and she flies off at 12:55. The male is back briefly at 16:20. A quick trip into the city mid- afternoon showed one of the birds (most probably the female) on the Cardinal BT Tower, Humberstone Gate on the west facing ledge.

28 Dec – the female arrives at 7:50 and goes into the box to tend the scrape. She moves to the ledge after a few minutes and leaves at 8:05. The male lands briefly at 15:50.

27 Dec – the pair fly in at 8:15. The male goes into the box, but the female sees the stashed Teal and flies off with it; the male quickly follows. The pair are back at 12:50 and go into the box. The male soon leaves whilst the female remains until 13:10.

27 December 2025 – Video: another short bonding session.

26 Dec – the female arrives carrying fresh Redwing prey at 00:35 and stashes it by a column then sits on the ledge. The male lands at 7:25 and the pair go into the box for few moments bonding. She then grabs her stashed meal and flies out whilst he moves to the ledge. He leaves at 7:35. The pair fly in at 11:25 and go into the box for a brief bout of bonding. The male soon leaves, and the female follows a few minutes later. The pair are back at 15:15. The male goes into the box whilst the female sits on the ledge. She flies off after a few minutes and he quickly follows. The female is back at 21:25 carrying fresh Teal prey which she stashes by a column. She then sits on the ledge and flies off after ten minutes.

25 Dec – the male flies into the box at 8:40, then moves to the ledge and leaves after ten minutes. He is back briefly at 15:05.

24 Dec – the male lands at 7:40 for 15 minutes. He returns at 12:00 and goes into the box to tend the scrape for five minutes, then sits on the ledge and flies off at 12:15. The female lands briefly at 15:35.

23 Dec – the male lands briefly at 9:10. The female flies in at 10:15 and goes into the box to tend the scrapes ten minutes later; she leaves at 10:50. The pair arrive at 13:55 and go into the box. The male flies out after a few minutes bonding, whilst the female remains until 14:45.

22 Dec – the pair fly in at 7:50 but the female quickly leaves; the male follows at 8:10. They are back at 15:15 but again the female leaves immediately and the male quickly follows.

21 Dec – the male lands briefly at 7:50 and is back at 9:15 for five minutes. The pair fly in at 11:25 but the male quickly leaves. The female remains in the box tending the scrapes until 11:45 when she moves to the ledge and flies off at 12:05.

20 Dec – the pair fly in at 15:30, both looking well fed. They go into the box for a few minutes bonding then the male leaves. The female tends to the scrapes and flies out ten minutes later.

19 Dec – the male arrives at 6:40 and remains for an hour. He is back briefly at 8:25. The female lands at 9:35 and goes into the box for ten minutes, then moves to the ledge and flies off at 9:55. The male is back at 11:00 and takes a short flight at 11:10, returns to the kedge but quickly leaves. The pair fly into the box at 14:55. The male leaves after five minutes bonding. The female watches him go then returns to the box and flies out at 15:05.

18 Dec – the male lands at 5:05 and leaves at 8:00. He returns with the female at 9:05 and they go into the box for a short bonding session as he flies out after a few minutes. the female tends the scrapes then leaves at 9:35.

17 Dec – the male flies in at 7:30 and sits on the ledge for 15 minutes. He returns with the female 9:00. He leaves after a few minutes bonding and she leaves after ten minutes tending the scrape. They return at 10:50 but the female leaves immediately and the male quickly follows. They are back at 11:20 and go into the box. The male moves top the ledge after five minutes banding whilst the female tends to the scrapes. He flies off at 11:35, and she leaves at 11:55. The male lands on the platform at 13:15, then moves to the ledge before flying off at 13:35.

16 Dec – the male lands briefly at 8:50. There was no other activity on camera today.

15 Dec – the female arrives at 4:40 and sits on the ledge until 7:30. The male flies in 15 minutes later and remains until 8:00. He returns at 9:45 and goes into the box for a few minutes tending the scrapes, then leaves. The male is back at 12:35 and sits on the ledge with a full crop but leaves after a few minutes. He returns with the female at 14:40 and there are a few minutes of bonding. He soon leaves but she remains in the box tending the scrapes until 15:50 when she moves to the ledge and flies off 15 minutes later.

14 Dec – the male arrives at 8:00 for five minutes. The female lands with a full crop at 11:10 and goes into the box 20 minutes later to tend to the scrapes. She flies out at 12:25. The pair arrive at 14:05 and the male leaves after five minutes bonding. The female remains in the box tending the scrapes until moving to the ledge at 14:35, then flying off.

13 Dec – the male lands at 7:45 and sits on the ledge until 9:20 when he moves into the box to tend the scrape, returning to the ledge five minutes later. He flies off at 9:40. The pair fly in at 16:05. The female goes into the box but the male sits on the ledge. He joins her in the box 20 minutes later. She then flies off and he follows after a few minutes.

13 December 2025 – Video: the pair have a bout of late afternoon bonding.

12 Dec – the female flies in at 7:50 and sits on the ledge until 8:15 when she grabs the stashed Plover meal and flies off. The male lands briefly at 11:45. The pair arrive at 13:05 and go into the box. The male leaves after a ten-minute bout of bonding. The female tends to the scrape, then moves to the ledge before flying out at 13:35.

11 Dec – the male lands at 5:10 for 15 minutes and the female flies in at 6:05 until 7:40. The male is back at 13:25 for another 15 minutes. The female returns at 16:00 for five minutes and flies in with fresh Golden Plover prey at 18:00. She stashes it by a column and leaves.

10 Dec – the male arrives at 7:20 for 30 minutes and is back briefly at 8:15. He flies into the box at 9:50 with a full crop, tends the scrapes, then moves to the ledge. The female joins him at 11:00 but picks up some scraps and immediately leaves. He returns to the ledge until flying off at 11:35.

9 Dec – the female lands at 3:40. She grabs the stashed Teal at 7:30 and feeds for 30 minutes. She stashes the remains and flies off at 8:00. The male arrives at 8:35 until 9:05. The pair fly in at 9:40, the female grabs some scraps and leaves whilst the male sits on the ledge and follows five minutes later. The female is back briefly at 10:05 with a full crop. She returns at 11:30 and feeds on the Teal remains then goes into the box at 11:55. She flies out at 13:40 and is replaced by the male who checks the box and leaves after ten minutes.

8 Dec – the female lands at 4:10 until 7:45. The male arrives five minutes later but leaves after a few minutes. The pair fly in at 9:20 for a short bout of bonding. The male soon leaves, and the female quickly follows. They are back at 10:10 and the male leaves after five minutes bonding and the female follows a few minutes later. She female flies in at 21:00 carrying fresh Teal prey which she stashes by a column. She then tends to the scrape and sits on the ledge before flying out at 10:20.

7 Dec – the male arrives at 2:40. He flies off at 7:40 but quickly returns with the female. They go into the box, but he soon leaves; she follows at 7:55. The pair are back at 14:45 but the male soon leaves, and the female moves to the ledge then flies off at 15:35. They are back 15 minutes later, the male looking well fed. He quickly leaves and the female follows a few minutes later.

6 Dec – the female lands at 2:25 and is joined by the male at 7:35. He immediately leaves, and she follows. The male is back briefly at 8:55. The female flies into the box at 10:10 for 15 minutes to tend the scrapes. The male lands at 16:20 and goes into the box for ten minutes tending the scrapes.  

5 Dec – the male lands on the ledge at 7:05 for 20 minutes. The pair fly into the box at 9:25 but the male soon leaves. The female remains tending the scrapes until 9:40. The male is back for 15 minutes at 10:40 and briefly at 11:40. The pair return at 12:45. The male quickly leaves whilst the female tends the scrapes and leaves ten minutes later.  

4 Dec – the male flies in at 7:45 for 15 minutes. he returns with the female at 9:25 but he quickly leaves whilst she sits on the ledge and soon follows. The male is back at 11:35 and tends to the scrape before sitting on the ledge and flying off ten minutes later. The pair fly into the box at 15:00. He quickly leaves and she flies out at 15:25.

3 Dec – the female arrives at 2:55 and flies off at 8:00. She returns with the male at 10:50 and they go into the box for a short bout of bonding. The male soon leaves, and she follows ten minutes later. The male lands briefly at 13:25 and again at 16:05.

2 Dec – the female arrives at 3:40 and sits on the ledge until 5:55. She returns with the male at 8:40 but neither stay long.

1 Dec – the male arrives at 3:15 and sits on the ledge. He flies off at 7:35 and is replaced by the female. She goes into the box at 8:05. The male lands at 8:35 with a full crop but he soon flies off and she follows. The female is back at 11:15 and goes into the box and tends the scrapes. She moves back to the platform at 12:10 and leaves at 14:20 to be replaced by the male. He visits the box to tend the scrapes, then sits on the ledge until 14:45. He lands briefly ten minutes later.
